Rick Warren Forum on Faith and the “Cone of Silence”

Did John McCain cheat during the Saddleback Faith Forum? Members of the media have raised questions about whether or not John McCain was actually in a “cone of silence” in the church.

On Monday, The New York Times backed up NBC’s story about McCain not being in the “cone of silence”. Rick Warren also admitted in an interview with Rick Sanchez that John McCain was not even in the building for the first thirty minutes of the interview.

While we may never know if John McCain could hear the questions being asked of Senator Barack Obama, it is entirely possible for advanced word of the questions to be passed to him.

Andrea Mitchell during Meet the Press on Sunday suggested that John McCain was so well prepared in his answers that perhaps he could hear the questions being asked to Senator Obama.

The McCain campaign wrote a nasty and harshly worded letter to NBC about Andrea Mitchell and her attempted “smear attack” on Senator McCain.

The McCain campaign was looking for this story to dissipate after the weekend while it has only grown. The Saddleback Faith Forum has sparked a media debate over what is now known as the “cone of silence”.

Was McCain in the “cone of silence”? For at least 30 minutes he was not. The question is, was he being fed the answers in advance? Was McCain just on his game and Obama having an off day?

Judge for yourself by watching the entire forum here through CNN video. McCain and Obama’s different answers to the “does evil exist” question is what sparked the debate.
